Biology is the science of life and is at the forefront of social change, from the use of genetically-modified organisms to humanity’s effect on the environment, sustainable energy and food production. At Kent you'll gain the skills, knowledge and support to help build a better tomorrow.
You study living organisms and their interactions with the environment, investigating life forms ranging from viruses and bacteria to complex animals and plants. You’ll learn from inspirational academics working at the cutting-edge of research with access to fantastic facilities.
Course options
Our flexible degrees give you choices. It's often possible to take modules in another subject area, spend a year abroad or on placement, or developing skills in computing, data analytics or journalism.

We have numerous international study and work placements available and we'll support you every step of the way.
Year in Industry / Placement year
Gaining work experience while you study can give you a headstart when you graduate. Lots of our courses offer placement years which take place between your second and final years.
Foundation year
If you do not have appropriate qualifications for direct entry, some degrees offer an integrated foundation year which starts at a point before honours degree entry (Stage 0).
