The University of Dundee is a public research university based in Dundee, Scotland. It was founded as a university college in 1881 with a donation from the prominent Baxter family of textile manufacturers.
The main campus of the university is located in Dundee's West End, which contains many of the university's teaching and research facilities; the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee Law School and the Dundee Dental Hospital and School. The University has additional facilities at Ninewells Hospital, containing its School of Medicine; Perth Royal Infirmary, which houses a clinical research centre; and in Kirkcaldy, Fife, containing part of its School of Health Sciences.
It is a university with a social purpose, building on its long-standing values.
Founded in 1881 to provide equal opportunity education, regardless of sex or religion, the University of Dundee was the first university in the UK to educate men and women side by side. The university offers pre-sessional English courses and free English language lessons for international students, covering academic writing, seminar skills, listening, and note-taking.

Dundee accommodation is typically within walking distance of the main campus. If you apply as an undergraduate student before the deadline, you are guaranteed to be offered a room (terms and conditions apply). The university can also assist with finding private accommodation.
