Overview
Electronics engineers design and develop electronic equipment, such as broadcast and communications systems — from portable music players to global positioning systems (GPS).
The bachelor of science degree with a major in electrical engineering is designed to provide students with the mathematics, science, management, engineering and applications skills needed to work in various industries designing and producing electrical and electronic devices, systems and services. Electrical engineers also are involved in many large-scale multi-disciplinary projects in aerospace, automobiles, computer systems, construction, instrumentation, health services and other areas.
Texas State offers an electrical engineering program with three specializations:
- Networks and communication systems
- Micro and nano devices and systems
- Computer engineering
Each of these programs leads to a bachelor of science degree with a major in electrical engineering.
The Electrical Engineering (B.S.) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunications(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
