Overview
Computer Engineers integrate several fields of electrical engineering and computer science to develop computer hardware and software.
Computer engineers have training in electrical engineering with emphasis on electronic design, software design, and hardware-software integration, instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual digital circuits, logic design of complexity up to microcontrollers and microprocessors, integration of electronic components into fully-functional computers, from personal microcomputers to supercomputers. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work but also how they integrate into the larger picture.
The Electrical Engineering (B.S.) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunications(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
