Earn a Master’s and Teaching Credential

The master of arts in teaching with licensure (MAT) program is designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree who want to simultaneously earn a master’s degree in education and become a licensed teacher in Illinois. Most candidates are able to begin their first teaching position just two years after starting the program. The MAT pairs curriculum with clinical experiences that are focused on helping you become an effective educator, no matter your background.

The master of arts in teaching with licensure (MAT) is designed for candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and who wish to earn a master’s degree while completing the requirements for an Illinois teaching license. The early childhood education license will allow you to teach infants through grade 2 in Illinois schools.

Most students will complete the program and obtain licensure within 22 months.
