Overview
**MARKETING**
Marketing involves creating products and services, communicating their value, and managing customer relationships. When businesses focus on their customers’ wants and needs, they sell products that are valued and not just promoted.
**Why Choose Marketing?**
*The City*
Marketing is an integral part of New York City. Products, advertisements, and brands are omnipresent. The headquarters of major fashion, finance, art, history, and retail brands are located in New York City. Manhattan University’s location is just 40 minutes from midtown. As a marketing major, students can engage with these exciting industries while enjoying the comfort of a campus environment.
*The Alumni Network*
In a relationship-based industry like marketing, networking is crucial. The School of Business boasts an extensive alumni network of professionals who work in the industry. They stay connected to the College and are enthusiastic about mentoring current students. They are also often the first to know about interesting job or internship openings at companies such as:
- AT&T
- Avon
- Cosmopolitan
- Enterprise
- FCB Advertising
- J.P. Morgan Chase
- J. Walter Thompson
- Morgan Stanley
- MTV
- New York Life
- O’Connor Davies
- Verizon
- Versace

- Determining if students want a Fair Trade store on campus, and identifying which items they would like to see in-stock
- Exploring green goods and hardy plants that can withstand natural disasters like hurricanes
- Studying green supply chain management abroad and how to integrate it locally in the Bronx
- Pitching a business plan to a panel of faculty, alumni, and business professionals at the College’s annual Innovation Contest
- Traveling to India to study an emerging economy firsthand through site visits and workshops
**What Will You Learn?**
As a marketing major, students will learn how to:
- Determine a competitive market position and strategy
- Build a product portfolio
- Communicate and price products
- Distribute strategically
- Become a globally-oriented business leader
- Analyze, think critically, and make decisions in the marketing process
Marketing is also available as a minor.
**What Will You Do?**
Marketing is a key function and essential tool in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
