Passionate problem solvers, innovative thinkers, and entrepreneurs will find a home in CSU’s Data Science major, an interdisciplinary degree with foundations in computer science, statistics, communications, and mathematics. You’ll learn how to decipher and analyze huge sets of data to solve real-world problems and, ultimately, reshape the way we interpret information and use it to influence choices made in virtually every industry. 

CONCENTRATIONS

A concentration allows you to specialize in a certain area within your major, offering a depth of information and hands-on experiences that you may not otherwise get. Many students in this major will concentrate in one area to work in a specific field after college, as well as find mentors and internships before they even graduate.

COMPUTER SCIENCE

The computer science concentration allows you to dive more deeply into the programming behind big-data work. 

ECONOMICS

The economics concentration provides you with the technical and theoretical foundations in data science while also allowing for a focus on the economy and data in relation to the economy. 

MATHEMATICS

Data science runs on math. The mathematics concentration offers additional upper-level coursework to give you deeper insights into the dynamic world of big data.

NEUROSCIENCE

The neuroscience concentration provides you with the ability to synthesize anatomical, biochemical, physiological, and psychological information that is contained within large data sets to develop hypotheses of nervous system development, structure, function, and regulation. 

STATISTICS

The statistics concentration provides a strong foundation of applied and theoretical statistical knowledge to empower you to become a successful data wrangler.
